Novastar Prep is seeking an experienced Digital SAT Tutor to provide one-on-one, in-home SAT preparation in Arlington, VA (22207). We are especially interested in educators with experience supporting students with ADHD, IEPs or testing accommodations, test anxiety, or other learning differences.

This is a flexible, part-time opportunity for an educator who is patient, encouraging, and skilled at adapting instruction to individual learning needs while maintaining high academic expectations.

The tutor will teach Digital SAT Reading and Writing and/or Math, with a strong emphasis on test strategy, pacing, question analysis, confidence-building, and score improvement. The ideal tutor is comfortable working with academically motivated students who benefit from structured, incremental, and highly interactive instruction.

Immediate need: We currently have an in-person SAT student in North Arlington seeking to begin tutoring as soon as possible. Current availability includes Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings, as well as Saturday and Sunday daytime hours. Additional in-person and remote tutoring opportunities may also be available.

Role Responsibilities

  • Deliver one-on-one Digital SAT instruction in a student's home in Arlington, VA
  • Teach Digital SAT Reading and Writing and/or Math
  • Guide students through test-taking strategies, pacing, question analysis, and timed practice
  • Break complex material into clear, manageable steps
  • Adapt instruction for students with ADHD, testing accommodations, test anxiety, executive functioning needs, or other learning differences
  • Incorporate visual, interactive, and practice-based teaching strategies when appropriate
  • Build student confidence while maintaining clear goals and measurable progress
  • Track student performance and communicate progress and instructional insights as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of 1 year of SAT teaching or tutoring experience strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of the Digital SAT format, adaptive structure, and question types
  • Experience working with students with ADHD, IEPs/testing accommodations, test anxiety, executive functioning challenges, or learning differences strongly preferred
  • Patient, encouraging, and able to provide structured instruction without overwhelming students
  • Ability to explain strategies and concepts clearly in a one-on-one setting
  • Strong communication, organization, and professionalism
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Ability to provide in-person tutoring in Arlington, VA 22207
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to commit to at least one academic semester
  • Ability to pass a background check

Compensation

  • $35–40/hour for in-home instruction, based on experience
  • $30/hour for online instruction
  • Bi-weekly direct deposit
